Show Notes

In this session we explore the intricate relationship between our gut health and mental well-being. We delve into the concept of the microbiome, a vast community of microbes residing in our gut which plays a crucial role in regulating brain activity and cognitive functions. The communication between the gut and brain occurs through the microbiota-gut-brain axis, enabling bidirectional information exchange.

Remarkably, the gut microbiota produces neurotransmitters essential for the regulation of our body and brain. Imbalances in the gut microbiome have been linked to various neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, and depression.

The latest research work emphasizes the importance of addressing the underlying imbalance in the gut microbiome to restore balance to neurotransmitter levels to improve both physical and mental health. We also reveal the potential of exercise as a powerful tool in supporting mental well-being.
